My All Time Favorite Appetizer Recipes (2)

I don’t know about you, but I love appetizers. I’d be perfectly happy to snack on tiny delicious fingers foods all night and call it dinner. 🙂 So today I’m going to share two of my all time favorite appetizer recipes: Fig Jam Crostinis and Sweet Peppers With Yogurt!

Fig Jam Crostinis:

My All Time Favorite Appetizer Recipes (3)

These tiny slices of delicious bread are quick, easy, and well-loved among our family and friends! My mom adapted thisrecipe from one of our favorite food blogs, Taste With The Eyes. (Fun Fact: my mom was Lori Lynn’s college roommate!) The original recipe can be found in this post, along with a few other crostini recipes. They are delicious too (so is pretty much EVERYTHING on Lori’s blog), so go check them out!

For our adapted version of this fig jam crostini recipe, you need:

  • a baguette
  • Brie
  • fig jam (my mom uses Bonne Mamon brand, found at the local grocery store)

Slice up the baguette into about 1/4″ slices and toast them. Mom usesa grill basket and her charcoal Weber grill, and it works great. JM and I don’t have a grill (boo apartments!), but the broiler in your oven will work just as well.

Once the slices are toasted, spread a bit of Brie on them, and top them off with a bit of fig jam. Yes. crostinis are just toasted bread slices topped with yummy. Simple and delicious!

Sweet Peppers With Yogurt:

This is probably my favorite appetizer ever! (Shh, don’t tell JM, but as delicious as thosebacon-wrapped datesare, these are better!) It’s the perfect combination of sweet and salty and delicious. Plus they’re also quick and easy to make.

Here’s what you need:

  • small sweet peppers, cut in half, seeds and stem removed
  • plain yogurt
  • kalamata olives, sliced
  • honey

Start by grilling your pepper halves until a bit of char develops, but don’t let them get too burnt. Again, my mom uses the grill basket and Weber. Again, a broiler will work in a pinch.

Put the peppers on a plate and spoon yogurt into the cavities. Place a few slices of kalamata olive on top of the yogurt, then drizzle with honey.

Be careful when you eat these; the peppers will be warm from the grill, and the heat will make the yogurt pretty runny. Make sure to put a stack of napkins out when you serve them!

It’s easy to make both of these recipes in bulk, so don’t forget to share!

I think I inherited my love of appetizers from my mom: when I’m in CA for a visit, we’ll take the slightest excuse to make, and eat, appetizers. We definitely don’t have to wait for fancy dinner parties to enjoy these guys! What are your favorite appetizers? I’m always looking for new recipes to try!
